本年度（2021年度）は最終年度ということで、本研究1年目から収集してきた情報を利用し、本格的な研究――研究対象である『小天地』の内容分析を行うことになった（その後、本年度途中で研究期間延長を申請して受諾され、本年度が最終年度ではなくなったが）。
主な具体的活動としては、日本近代文学会関西支部2021年度秋季大会（11月14日、オンライン）で、本研究課題メンバーによるパネル発表を行なったことがあげられる（演題「雑誌『小天地』の基礎的研究――明治期地方文芸メディアの一ケースとして――」、パネラー：掛野剛史・竹本寛秋・西山康一、司会：庄司達也、下記「研究発表」の「学会発表」参照）。
また、本年度はコロナ禍の影響で移動や対面が制限されたため、前年度に引き続きフィールド・ワークや資料調査、対面式での研究報告会や打ち合わせをすることができなかったが、その分6月27日・9月10日の２回、オンライン会議サービス「Zoom Meeting」を使ってメンバー全体が集まる機会を設け、メンバー各自の研究報告を行ったり、上記の学会の準備・打ち合わせをしたり、本研究の今後の方向性やスケジュールについて検討したりした（3月にも行う予定だったが、メンバー間の予定が合わず、また研究期間を延長したこともあり、次年度に行うことにした）。その他にもメンバー間での情報共有を密にし、たとえば本研究課題に関係のありそうな学会が開催された時には、メンバー全体で参加したりもした。
これらの研究活動の結果、具体的な研究成果としては上記の学会発表以外に、さらに琥珀書房から『『小天地』復刻版』（第1回配本）を刊行することが出来たことが、大きな成果として挙げられる。

In the research field about Akutagawa Ryunosuke, an important place is occupied by the many author's autographs now in the collections of several public institutions in Japan and around the world. Having grasped an overall picture of the material we completed the initial task of creating a database including all the information surveyed from the autographs. Concerning the database, almost all the essential data have been entered and we concluded the preliminary work finalized to carefully examine each data and to carry forward a joint effort with the institutions and individuals holding the autographs. Further, the restoration project of a cinematographic film formerly owned by Kume Masao has been conducted through the cooperation of Koriyama City in Fukushima Prefecture, where it was preserved, and the reconstructed footage has been released. While analysing Akutagawa's autographs in the collection of the same archive we clarified unknown details in some of the author’s manuscripts.

The purpose of this research was to compare Japanese writes’ awareness of China to Chinese writes’ awareness of Japan from 1910 to 1930. We clarified the Japanese intellectual’s awareness of China at that time through the reprinting of Akutagawa Ryunosuke’s note of the lectures on the play Xixiangji and we explored the Japanese common people’s images of China through investigating the example sentences of Chinese textbooks of the time. We also clarified the awareness of Chinese of the same age through the writings on Japan and the plays which dealt with Japan.

This article demonstrates research on the cultural, educational, and media exchanges between Japan and China during the 1910s and 1920s. At that time, the Imperial University of Tokyo used the newly published Chinese play“Xixiangji” as one of their textbooks. Class notes, written by Imperial University graduate Ryunosuke Akutagawa provide us with evidence that Xixiangji was taught in the University. This note argues this academic interest brought Mei-Lan Fang’s Japanese tour in 1919 and 1924. Through his visitation, the relationship between Japan and China was improved.
While every imperial University emphasized the political incapacity of China through history education and tried to rationalize Japanese conduct in their rule over China. For this reason, they chose Chinise play according to their bias. During the same time in China classical play was often biting satire about political corruption.

I grasped the perspective by only Shinobu Orikuchi who became the urgent problem decoding rearranging, non-decoding document,and analyzing it and analyzed the evaluation of the individual document and,based on it,promoted a study of the document study about the work of the live literary person in the times same as Shinobu Orikuchi.
Of the around work document that the result is promoted in a modern literature study in Japan now,and much result appears could connect it with the development to a new reading to depend,the study of the generation idea of the Shinobu Orikuchi work by the draft study to dig it up,and added new point of view to Japan modern literature study.In addition,in the ancient literature study , I pushed forward a new reception study based on a new appearance document

This research project is consisted of two activities. One is a series of academic conferences which lasted for 14 times. The other is field work research in the Kyushu region. And also this project is supplemented by the exchange of information and the joint conference with the research group" Tomoni Muramatsu of Keio University" supported by the Grant in Aid for Scientific Research in the 17th year of Heisei.
This research project bears such papers as "The Media events for Second Subscription of Works of Modern Japanese Literature:' Homogenizing 'Reading' Mass,"by Ikuko Yamagishi, "The Publicity Campaign of 'One Yen Book' on Kagoshima Asahi Shinbun,"' "The Public Lectures for Publicizing 'Works of Modern Japanese Literature,' in the Kyushu Region" by Kinya Sugiyama, "The 'Kaizou'Magazine and Literary Movies, with a list of Movie Related Articles on Kaizou'magazine in the early Showa Period, 1926-1940," by Hisashi Nakazawa. Each article may guides further studies on similar subjects. Takeshi Kakeno's "Notes on Sanehiko Yamamoto's writings" is a list of the writings of Sanehiko Yamamoto, the Owner-Writer of Kaizou-Sha, that were collected for this project, and it contains a bibliographical introduction. And Shoji compiled basic data of actual results of a course of the public lectures for publicizing Works of Modern Japanese Literature,' in the Kyushu region led by the Kaizou-sha.'This is also what this research project made possible.
We published as an appendix, a list of samples of 'Works' to cast a light on the actual publishing situation of 'One Yen Book.' And it included a list of related news articles and advertisements collected by this project in the Kyusyu region, and an advertisement in 'Kyushu Nippou' as an example of publicizing.
