In this study, we conducted a five-hour training program for the emotional management of nurses and care workers to reduce their levels of anger, and verified its effectiveness using an aggression scale.
Each topic was covered through lectures, individual work, and group share work. The program evaluation in this study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest design and was conducted from June 2018 to December 2020. The questionnaire included items on gender, age, years of clinical experience, and the Japanese version of the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BAQ). Regression analyses were performed using a linear mixed-effect model to assess the differences of aggression scale scores at the three time points (pre, post, and three-months-post training) and gender, with each scale score as a response variable pre- and three-months-post training. The training program decreased aggression, and the effect persisted after three months.

This study aims to identify the useful support for workplace violence against psychiatric nurses by patients. An interview survey was carried out with psychiatric nurses and nurse managers on their experiences of after suffering violence and awareness about support for being damaged nurses.
It appears that secondary damage on dealing with damaged nurses from other staffs, and managers' role of understanding situations, facilitation of reflection with being damaged nurses, reporting to superior, and role-sharing of participants. Finding supportive involvement of other staffs (nurse managers, colleague, co-medical, and office workers) and avoid secondary damage to being damaged nurses will be one of the key factors of organizations.

An interview survey was carried out with psychiatric nurses on the judgment and reporting standards in relation to patients' violence. The survey covered a number of topics such as nurses' recognition of violence, and the methods and purposes of reporting. A questionnaire sheet was also used to survey factors that influence a nurse's recognition of violence, the method and standard of reporting, and promotional and preventive factors of the report. A nurse's recognition of violence was impacted by the individual characteristics of each nurse, such as gender, years of experience, and whether the individual is qualified as a nurse or an assistant nurse. It was suggested that the reporting standards are ambiguous and therefore may not be being used effectively as a safety countermeasure.
